REGLAS OFICIALES - 1ER CONCURSO DE COQUITO DE TAMPA - 809 LOUNGE (DIC 07)
¡Bienvenidos al 1er Concurso Anual de Coquito en Classic Salsa Sundays! Para descubrir ¿Quién Tiene el Mejor Coquito?, estamos organizando dos (2) competencias separadas:
CATEGORÍA 1: MEJOR COQUITO TRADICIONAL
CATEGORÍA 2: MEJOR COQUITO DE SABOR (ej. Pistacho, Nutella, Calabaza, etc.)
Se otorgará un Gran Premio (Efectivo y Premios) al ganador de cada categoría.
1. INSCRIPCIÓN, TARIFAS Y REGISTRO
Este concurso es presentado por Maloof Entertainment en 809 Lounge.
Todos los competidores deben tener 21 años de edad o más para participar.
La tarifa de inscripción es de $20.00 por cada receta de coquito inscrita.
** LA INSCRIPCIÓN ES SOLAMENTE EN LÍNEA. ** Los competidores deben visitar maloofentertainment.com/809sundays/ para registrarse.
LÍMITES DE INSCRIPCIÓN: Un solo competidor puede presentar un máximo de cuatro (4) inscripciones totales.
Puede presentar un máximo de una (1) inscripción en la categoría 'Mejor Tradicional'.
Puede presentar múltiples inscripciones en la categoría 'Mejor Sabor' (ej. "Pistacho" y "Nutella"), siempre que cada una sea de un sabor distinto.
Cada inscripción requiere su propio boleto de $20.00. (ej. 1 Tradicional + 2 de Sabor = 3 boletos = $60).
Todos los competidores deben aceptar la renuncia de responsabilidad durante el registro en línea por cada inscripción.

2. REQUISITOS DEL COQUITO
Todas las entradas de coquito deben ser caseras. No se permite coquito comprado en tienda (ej. de un supermercado).
Cada inscripción individual debe consistir en suficiente coquito para seis (6) porciones de degustación de 1 onza (para 5 jueces y 1 potencial desempate). Esto es un total de 6 onzas por inscripción. Recomendamos al menos 8-12 oz.
El coquito debe entregarse frío y listo para degustar en un recipiente sencillo y sin marcas (ej. botella de vidrio, botella de plástico o frasco de vidrio).
Los recipientes deben estar COMPLETAMENTE SIN MARCAS. No etiquete sus botellas con su nombre, marca o cualquier marca identificativa. Cualquier marca identificativa encontrada será cubierta completamente por los oficiales del concurso para asegurar una evaluación a ciegas.
3. REGISTRO DEL CONCURSO (DÍA DEL EVENTO)
FECHA: Domingo, 7 de diciembre
LUGAR: 809 Lounge
HORA DE REGISTRO: 12:00 PM (Mediodía) - 3:00 PM EST
Se requiere una identificación con foto válida al registrarse para verificar la edad (21+). El nombre en la identificación debe coincidir con el nombre en el registro.
Los competidores DEBEN traer sus botellas de coquito al lugar durante esta ventana de tiempo específica.
Al registrarse, un oficial encontrará su nombre en la lista de registro prepagada y confirmará cuántas entradas tiene para cada categoría. Sus entradas serán registradas y llevadas para su procesamiento.
Esta es una hora límite estricta. Si no llega antes de las 3:00 PM, su entrada podría no ser registrada.
Para asegurar una cata a ciegas 100% justa, no se les dirá a los concursantes su número de entrada asignado. Después de que se cierre la ventana de registro, los oficiales asignarán confidencialmente un número anónimo a cada entrada antes de entregarla a los jueces.
4. PROCESO DE EVALUACIÓN
La evaluación será una cata a ciegas ("blind tasting") al 100%. Los jueces solo conocerán su coquito por su número de concursante.
Un panel de cinco (5) jueces calificará cada entrada.
Las entradas se juzgarán solo contra otras entradas en la misma categoría (Tradicional vs. Tradicional, Sabor vs. Sabor).
La evaluación se basa en cinco (5) categorías, calificadas del 1 (Necesita Mejora) al 5 (Excelente):
A. Aroma: (Olor y equilibrio de especias, coco y ron)
B. Consistencia: (Textura y sensación en boca; ni muy espeso ni muy aguado)
C. Sabor: (Equilibrio de coco, especias, dulzura y ron)
D. Resabio (Final): (Final suave y agradable, ¿o es áspero?)
E. Impresión General: (El factor "Wow". ¿Pasaría la prueba de la Abuela?)
Desempate: En caso de empate en la puntuación ganadora en cualquiera de las categorías, las entradas empatadas serán degustadas nuevamente por los cinco jueces en una nueva hoja de puntuación limpia. La entrada con la puntuación más alta de esta segunda ronda será declarada ganadora.
La entrada con la puntuación total más alta dentro de su categoría será declarada ganadora.
Todas las decisiones de los jueces son finales.
5. PREMIOS
Se otorgarán Efectivo y Premios al ganador de la categoría Mejor Tradicional.
Se otorgarán Efectivo y Premios al ganador de la categoría Mejor Sabor.
¡Ambos ganadores recibirán un trofeo "Premio Gordo" y el derecho a presumir de ser el Campeón de Coquito de Tampa!
Los ganadores de ambas categorías se anunciarán en vivo en 809 Lounge durante el evento Classic Salsa Sundays el 7 de diciembre.

Welcome to the 1st Annual Coquito Contest at Classic Salsa Sundays! To find out ¿Quién Tiene el Mejor Coquito?, we are hosting two (2) separate competitions:
CATEGORY 1: BEST TRADITIONAL COQUITO
CATEGORY 2: BEST FLAVORED COQUITO (e.g., Pistachio, Nutella, Pumpkin, etc.)
A Grand Prize winner (Cash and Prizes) will be awarded for each category.
1. ENTRY, FEES, & REGISTRATION
This contest is hosted by Maloof Entertainment at 809 Lounge.
All competitors must be 21 years of age or older to participate.
The entry fee is $20.00 per coquito recipe entry.
** REGISTRATION IS ONLINE ONLY. ** Competitors must go to maloofentertainment.com/809sundays/ to register.
ENTRY LIMITS: A single competitor may submit a maximum of four (4) total entries.
You may submit a maximum of one (1) entry into the 'Best Traditional' category.
You may submit multiple entries into the 'Best Flavored' category (e.g., "Pistachio" and "Nutella"), provided each is a distinct flavor.
Each entry requires its own $20.00 ticket. (e.g., 1 Traditional + 2 Flavored = 3 tickets = $60).
All competitors must agree to the liability waiver during online registration for each entry.
The registration deadline is Sunday, December 7th, by 12:00 PM (Noon) EST.
ABSOLUTELY NO LATE ENTRIES will be accepted online after the deadline. No payments will be taken at the door.
2. COQUITO REQUIREMENTS
All coquito entries must be homemade. No store-bought coquito (e.g., from a supermarket) is permitted.
Each single entry must consist of enough coquito for six (6) 1-ounce tasting servings (for 5 judges and 1 potential tie-breaker). This is a total of 6 ounces per entry. We recommend at least 8-12 oz.
The coquito must be provided chilled and ready for tasting in a plain, unmarked container (e.g., glass bottle, plastic bottle, or mason jar).
Containers must be COMPLETELY UNMARKED. Do not label your bottles with your name, brand, or any identifying marks. Any identifying marks found will be completely covered by contest officials to ensure blind judging.
3. CONTEST CHECK-IN (DAY OF EVENT)
DATE: Sunday, December 7th
LOCATION: 809 Lounge
CHECK-IN TIME: 12:00 PM (Noon) - 3:00 PM EST
A valid photo ID is required at check-in to verify age (21+). The name on the ID must match the name on the registration.
Competitors MUST bring their bottled coquito entries to the venue during this specific window.
At check-in, an official will find your name on the pre-paid registration list and confirm how many entries you have for each category. Your entries will be logged and taken for processing.
This is a hard cut-off time. If you do not arrive by 3:00 PM, your entry may not be entered.
To ensure a 100% fair and blind tasting, contestants will not be told their assigned entry number. After the check-in window closes, officials will confidentially assign an anonymous number to each entry before it is given to the judges.
4. JUDGING PROCESS
Judging will be a 100% "blind" tasting. The judges will only know your coquito by its contestant number.
A panel of five (5) judges will score each entry.
Entries will be judged only against other entries in the same category (Traditional vs. Traditional, Flavored vs. Flavored).
Judging is based on five (5) categories, scored from 1 (Needs Work) to 5 (Excellent):
A. Aroma: (Scent and balance of spices, coconut, and rum)
B. Consistency: (Texture and mouthfeel; not too thick or watery)
C. Flavor: (Balance of coconut, spices, sweetness, and rum)
D. Aftertaste (Finish): (Smooth, pleasant finish, or is it harsh?)
E. Overall Impression: (The "Wow" factor. Would this pass the Abuela test?)
Tie-Breaker: In the event of a tie for a winning score in either category, the tied entries will be re-tasted by the five judges on a new, clean score sheet. The entry with the highest score from this second round will be declared the winner.
The entry with the highest total score within its category will be declared the winner.
All judges' decisions are final.
5. PRIZES
Cash and Prizes will be awarded to the winner of the Best Traditional category.
Cash and Prizes will be awarded to the winner of the Best Flavored category.
Both winners will receive a "Premio Gordo" trophy and the ultimate bragging rights as Tampa's Coquito Champion!
Winners for both categories will be announced live at 809 Lounge during the Classic Salsa Sundays event on December 7th.
6. DISCLAIMER
By entering this contest, you acknowledge that you are serving a homemade beverage at your own discretion and assume all liability. Maloof Entertainment and 809 Lounge are not responsible for any issues related to the production or consumption of your product.

En consideración por permitírseme participar como concursante, yo, el abajo firmante (“Participante”), reconozco y acepto libremente lo siguiente:
1. Reconocimiento del Participante: Certifico que tengo veintiún (21) años de edad o más y que se me permite legalmente poseer y servir bebidas alcohólicas.
2. Reconocimiento de Producto Casero y Alcohol: Reconozco que el coquito es una bebida alcohólica. Además, reconozco que el coquito que proporciono para el Concurso es casero, no ha sido preparado en una cocina con licencia comercial o inspeccionada, y no ha sido inspeccionado por ningún departamento de salud federal, estatal o local.
3. Asunción de Riesgo: Entiendo que mi participación y el servicio de mi coquito casero a los jueces y miembros del público conlleva riesgos potenciales, incluyendo, entre otros, enfermedades, reacciones alérgicas, daños a la propiedad o lesiones. Asumo consciente y voluntariamente todos esos riesgos.
4. Renuncia de Responsabilidad y Liberación: En la máxima medida permitida por la ley, por la presente acepto liberar, renunciar y descargar al Organizador (Maloof Entertainment), al Lugar (809 Restaurant & Lounge), a todos los jueces del evento (incluidos Itamar J. In consideration of being allowed to participate as a contestant, I, the undersigned ("Participant"), freely acknowledge and agree to the following:
1. Participant Acknowledgment: I certify that I am twenty-one (21) years of age or older and am legally permitted to possess and serve alcoholic beverages.
2. Acknowledgment of Homemade Product & Alcohol: I acknowledge that coquito is an alcoholic beverage. I further acknowledge that the coquito I am providing for the Contest is homemade, has not been prepared in a commercially licensed or inspected kitchen, and has not been inspected by any federal, state, or local health department.
3. Assumption of Risk: I understand that my participation and the serving of my homemade coquito to judges and members of the public carries with it potential risks, including but not limited to, illness, allergic reactions, property damage, or injury. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks.
4. Waiver of Liability and Release: To the fullest extent permitted by law, I hereby agree to release, waive, and discharge the Organizer (Maloof Entertainment), the Venue (809 Restaurant & Lounge), all event judges (including **Itamar J. Martinez** and Chef Grego), and any of their respective affiliates, officers, directors, employees, volunteers, agents, and sponsors (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, and causes of action whatsoever, arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by me, or to any property belonging to me, while participating in the Contest, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH LOSS IS CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASED PARTIES or otherwise.
5. Indemnification and Hold Harmless: I further agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, actions, costs, expenses (including attorney's fees), and liabilities of any kind, including but not limited to, those arising from any third party (including judges and attendees) who may suffer illness, injury, or allergic reaction as a result of consuming the coquito I have provided.
6. Promotional Release: I grant the Released Parties the irrevocable right to use my name, likeness, and photograph for advertising and promotional purposes, without any compensation to me.
7. Binding Agreement: I have read this entire document. I understand that I am giving up substantial legal rights by signing it.
