Every event starts with a beginner-friendly lesson covering basic steps and partner work. You'll be dancing confidently within 30 minutes.
Wear what's comfortable. Closed-toe shoes recommended. Red Thread has a dress code (red/black), but all other events are casual.
All venues offer free or validated parking. LBC has a large lot, Catrinas has street parking, 809 has its own lot.

Maloof Entertainment hosts multiple weekly and monthly events across Tampa Bay. Every Wednesday at Red Thread Lounge in St. Pete (Threads Unbound), First Fridays at LBC Palm Harbor (Viernes Social with the live Àmbito Latin Band), Last Fridays at Catrinas West Tampa (La Bóveda Sessions), and First Sundays at 809 Lounge Tampa (Classic Salsa Sundays matinee). All events include a beginner lesson and welcome all skill levels.
No experience required. Every single event starts with a beginner-friendly lesson covering basic steps and timing. Most people who attend have never danced before. You will be moving confidently within 30 minutes.
No partner needed at any of our events. Most people attend solo or in groups of friends. During lessons we rotate partners so you practice with multiple people and meet the room naturally.
CANDELA is Tampa's only speed dating event built around movement. Held the first Thursday of every month inside the historic bank vaults of Catrinas in West Tampa, the night starts with a 30-minute beginner salsa lesson — no partner or experience needed — followed by curated speed dating rotations designed to feel fun and natural rather than awkward. Doors open at 7:00 PM. Tickets are limited and required in advance.
Not at all. The dance lesson is beginner-level and designed specifically for people who have never danced before. You do not need any prior dance experience or a partner to attend CANDELA. The lesson is there to break the ice, not to audition you.
Viernes Social (First Fridays at LBC Palm Harbor) is Tampa Bay's largest monthly Latin night with live music from the Àmbito Latin Band every month — it is high energy, established, and the longest-running event of its kind in the area. La Bóveda Sessions (Last Fridays at Catrinas West Tampa) is a dual-room experience inside a historic 1906 bank vault — live salsa band on the outdoor patio and DJ-driven House and Latin House inside. Two completely different vibes, both on Fridays.
Lesson times by event: Threads Unbound (Wednesday, St. Pete) starts at 8:30 PM. Viernes Social (First Friday, Palm Harbor) lesson at 9:00 PM. La Bóveda Sessions (Last Friday, West Tampa) lesson at 9:00 PM. Classic Salsa Sunday (First Sunday, Tampa) lesson at 3:00 PM. CANDELA Speed Dating (First Thursday, West Tampa) class at 7:30 PM.
Yes, free or accessible parking at all venues. LBC Palm Harbor has a large dedicated lot. Catrinas West Tampa has street parking and nearby lots on N Howard Ave. 809 Lounge has its own parking lot. Red Thread Lounge is in downtown St. Pete with nearby street parking and garages.
Smart Casual or Dressy Casual at most events. Red Thread Lounge (Threads Unbound) has a specific dress code of Red and/or Black attire. Classic Salsa Sunday at 809 Lounge is relaxed and family-friendly. When in doubt, dress up a little — the crowd tends to look good.
All evening events (Threads Unbound, Viernes Social, La Bóveda, CANDELA) are 21+. Classic Salsa Sunday at 809 Lounge is the exception — it is a daytime matinee from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and is family-friendly and all ages welcome.
